Meteor recently launched their cloud hosting platform. I just took a look at the pricing and it seems to be little high for startups or teams who want to stay in budget. I want to know if you guys will pay $495 or $995 per month for hosting your meteor apps on their cloud? Or will you rather go with AWS or something else?
The startup/individual plans will be added later. The current plans are aimed at large companies or corporations. Similar to the more expensive Heroku plans.
Not a startup. And it was never aimed for startups. It is mostly for enterprise who don't want to hire an extra man for server administration (For example those who already use DBaaS, PaaS and others but not their own dedicated servers. It was never made for startups
Providers like AWS and others generally offer discounts and this pricing seems very high for a startup or even small teams. The only time it makes sense is when you consider big IT players who are already spending tons of money on their infrastructure and are willing to move to Meteor.
So, the answer is No, I won't pay $495 per month.

That's the price you pay per month if you pay anually, if you go on a month-by-month basis, it's $650 per month. For a tenth of the price, you can get system specs with 10 times more. Have a look at the Google Compute Engine pricing, I'm sure AWS can offer similar pricing: cloud.google.com/compute/pricing
