IMO, most of us blog because we want to share the knowledge with everyone and become a bit more popular in the process. Also, most of us struggle to find time and therefore it's difficult to actively run a blog. So, I would like to know if revenue has any impact on how actively one blogs -- in other words if your personal blog covers your coffee bills, would you consider running one actively (may be release a post once a week)?
I will write to share my knowledge & experience with others. I don't think about money. If my content is useful for everyone then it automatically generates trustful revenue for me.
I do maintain a personal blog on programming. Although "active" might be an overstatement, it's not dead either.
Getting pocket change for it would do little to motivate me. I spend like 10 euro on coffee plus beer in a year, but getting that per post would still be well below minimum wage over here as it often takes me 2-4 hours.
Maybe, but my coffee (or beer) costs may be higher than you'd guess.
And no, I would most assuredly NOT like to discuss <shudder>vim or EMACS</shudder>.
I wish I made some money from my personal blog. But that is not the case. I write a little bit when time permits. I will be happy if I come with one blog post that brings a lot of traffic that will permit me to buy some coffee. So far no luck.
I don't expect money from the personal blog. So I'll continue to write whether it's helps me to buy coffee or not
My beer bills are quite high, so yes :D
JK, I blog mostly for myself. It it were to bring some profits, I could consider making it a bit different - maybe more reader-facing. Never sponsored posts though (where I need to write nice things about things I don't consider nice/ have not tried etc.)
