I had a very "safe" job and over 10 years had worked my way up the ladder to be the equivalent of an IT Director for an American Multi-National for the Australian region.
With 2 young children, my first home mortgage and fortunately a very understanding and supportive wife I threw it all away on a handshake to go into a start-up with a trusted colleague.
To say it changed my life would be a very big understatement and while there were very many challenging times I have not regretted it for a minute.
I learnt so much about so many different things, including mostly the good and bad about myself, that it will always remain a very positive experience.
Life is definitely not all about the money and for me it's all about the relationships you build and the things you learn from experience and doing (not just from books).
Of course you have to weigh up your own circumstances and the sacrifices you are prepared to make to achieve your goals.
I'm happy to discuss further privately, and don't want any money :-), if you think I can help.
All the very best on your journey.
