I like trying out what CSS can do. And making it do things it wasn't meant for.
One of the reasons I eat at least 3 apples a day.
To make the distinction clearer, how about expanding the "force field" all the way to the doctor, so he's standing at the invisible wall of the dome, clawing at it but unable to penetrate it (assuming I'm getting your intention correctly).
