This app automatically changes the microphone input to the built-in Mic. Works like a charm with my Airpods. Should work with other headphones.
I would also tinker with the new Shortcuts for Mac to natively automate it
Ooh I never thought about the shortcuts solution. Definitely going to try that out!

I've found the most simple solution is to change your OS Sound settings audio input to something that isn't your bluetooth headphones.
This is a great quick option! Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting headphones means doing this every time though.
