I think you are misreading the Scrum Guide, to be honest. Daily Scrum (not daily standup) is an opportunity to inspect and adapt, and not to report status. It is an opportunity for a self-managing team to self-inspect, and correct its course as needed to achieve the Sprint Goal.
The 2020 Scrum Guide version made it even more clear, in my opinion.
