This level of technological disruption has the potential to cause significant upheavals in the job market, particularly at the individual level. However, as I mentioned, it will also lead to the creation of new jobs in emerging sectors. While some people may struggle to adapt and could be forced out of the market, the generation of new jobs will help mitigate broader economic instability.
Agreed, advancements in AI have made the future seem uncertain! However, if we look at the history of technological inventions, they have often been perceived as threats to the job market. Yet, a few years after each invention, the effect tends to be quite the opposite. While new types of jobs replace older ones, the overall number of jobs in the global economy generally increases as a result of technological innovation. Initially, very few people are able to predict these trends accurately. In reality, new technologies lead to new possibilities, solutions, and innovations, which, in turn, drive the creation of new companies and new kinds of jobs. For example, the invention of the internet eventually created millions of tech jobs that hadn’t even been imagined at its inception. The greater the technological impact, the more disruption it brings—but also the more potential it creates. At least, that's what history teaches us.
