Kind of weird but not surprising.
Those of us in the west, central, and north Africa might still prefer Ireland due to latency. Hopefully, AWS plans a new region in Cameroon which is most centrally located and has more reliable power than Nigeria.
Also, we need an African internet exchange point where all these cloud giants can be located and an improved fibre network to interlink our various African cities. For now, most fibre networks are linked to Sesimbra (Portugal) and High Bridge (London).

Great. However Nigeria has the greatest economy and Cameroon is likely to benefit from it. Considering countries around SA would benefit from theirs as well.
