It takes real courage to burn the bridges for a just cause. I have been there, and I can tell you without mincing words, that that's the best decision you can make for yourself. My story is quite similar to yours. I started out as a call center agent in 2014. At some point, I had to leave everything to go learn photography. And I thought I was getting somewhere because I was working and learning other skills that interest me. In 2020, the lockdown happened. It was just about a week I completed a web design training. So, I had ample time to practice on the things I learned with my project (my first website). I lost my job in the heat of the lockdown and that intensified my learning. I went over and above, took some free online courses, saw a lot of videos and YouTube, and I kept practicing everything with my first project. As we got out of the lockdown. I got my first paid web design job, I was referred by a friend who had seen how much I have grown in months. Now, I work for a company as a web developer and also work freelance. The road might be rocky and there are times when you might question your decisions but if you keep at it, you will find that it is worth it. My advice to you is this: Now that you are rid of your banking job, choose to work on a personal project. With that, you can explore your wealth of experience, and that might even land you your first gig.
