I'll tell you: How I got into Georgia Tech's Online Master of Science in Computer Science (OMSCS) program while working and living in Russia. Requirements to enroll for foreign students. How much it costs. My experience with the courses. Why I am ...

Hi Andrey. Thank you for the information in the article. I had mediocre grades at best during my bachelor's but since then moved on to a better working and studying pace during work. I have seen adverts of this master's degree online before. I would consider attending it -or another similar programme- in the next two or three years. What would you suggest for someone in my position?

We are in the same boat. I would suggest emphasizing how you changed your work and study attitude since graduation in your statement of purpose. Ideally, with proof (speak at conferences, finish several courses online, get in contact with your previous professors and try to publish a paper). Good luck!

Thank you for the reply Andrey Goncharov.

Hi Andrey, great article! Just wanted to know what your motivation was for doing an online MSCS program, since a lot of students want to do a master's degree specifically to get entry into the country with a student visa.

Hi Prafful, thanks for reading! I think the primary benefits of the Master's for me are:

It provides structure and a more or less clear roadmap compared to learning on my own.
Deadlines, classmates, the atmosphere in the class help me fight my laziness and desire to watch another Netflix show instead :)

Andrey Goncharov That's great to hear. Thanks for clarifying!
