I was exploring whether to use Hugo to create my blog site or just use hashnode and ironically google shows this article on hashnode :-). For creating a personal blog site, shall we go with Hugo or just hasnode? what are the trade-offs?

Maybe Hugo is better for performance because it generates a static site. I am not sure how Hasnode internally operates - but, it seems fast enough. With Hugo, we can keep our content in our own Git repository as markdown files and deploy anywhere. With Hasnode, the content is hosted with them but we can use a custom domain. Is it possible to start with Hasnode & custom domain, eventually export content, and move to our own Hugo site? I would love to hear from other people with more experience with blogging platforms about the things to consider.

Sathish Ramani I would suggest maintaining your own blog, maybe with Hugo and deploy it on a CDN to get good performance and load times. You can repost your content on other platforms like Hashnode to reach a wider audience. Just make sure to set the canonic URL (URL of original post) when you repost, to ensure that SEO is not impacted.
