KServe, KubeVirt, and Cluster API may address very different workloads, but they demonstrate the same important trend: Kubernetes is evolving from a container orchestrator into a common declarative control plane for applications, virtual machines, machine-learning inference, and even Kubernetes clusters themselves.
The KServe section was particularly interesting. Scale-to-zero can reduce the cost of infrequently used models, although cold-start latency, GPU scheduling, and model-loading time remain important production considerations. KubeVirt also offers a pragmatic modernization path for organizations that cannot immediately rewrite legacy VM workloads, while still allowing them to adopt Kubernetes-native RBAC, networking, storage, and GitOps workflows. Cluster API completes the picture by applying the same reconciliation model to cluster lifecycle management.
