First of all - OpenAI is just an aggregator of currently present knowledge on internet.
As an aggregator - it helps to find answer/solution to known problems, known answers etc.
Can it brainstorm something new? No.
Can it predict future? No.
Will this and similar stuff/tech change how ppl work/live? Yes.
Will it replace jobs? No.
Its only an extension, a tool. Like a wrench.
Automatization is happening for a long time. Most rich countries are those who have high level of robots/population. (not counting resource rich).
So, when I was studying @school/unit some 30 years ago. There were no job positions as gamers/streamers/influencers/etc :)
The same with current time period. Technology improves and provides new opportunities for ppl.
Will there be displacements due to this? Definitely.
Digital skills will be very much in demand in the future. Even more so than they are today.
But in my opinion future is not as grim as some might portrait it to be.
Although finance expertise/understanding is very important. I.e. to take advantage of all the automatization/tech improvements. Wages do not keep up with increase in productivity since ~1970. But that's a different topic. epi.org/productivity-pay-gap/
All this is based on notion that in the near future general AI will not be developed though. As that would really change things.
