I would recommend Udacity's full stack track, for paid program. I didn't actually enroll so it might be slight off, but I'm taking their ReactND atm and it is pretty good. They build up a pretty good learning path for you to follow through and the video guide is not too bad, plus you get to join with a whole bunch of other people who are/were in the program.

Being a former designer myself I would definitely recommend learning some WebGL in JavaScript. It's a lot easier for you to get familiar with JavaScript syntax and building stuff that you are already familiar with. (graphics!!) I would recommend watching this video (The coding train) tutorial to learn about P5.js, a WebGL library; and this video (Fun Fun Function) for learning JavaScript in general. Also checkout hackerrank , they have some pretty good tutorial too. Happy hacking.

So if you design your object this way... const a = { value : 0 , valueOf() { return this . value ++; } } You got yourself a self-increment object : )

If you are starting to feel more comfortable coding in js, the next thing you want to start learning is Ajax and start building some simple app that implements APIs such as Google map or YouTube player. You want to start learning the asynchronous nature of the language, cuz that's gonna be your life as a js developer better master it before anything else. I don't recommend learning any framework at this point, the "make your life easier" part of any framework is just gonna stop you from truly mastering the language. ( I still got friends who can't make proper DOM manipulation without jqeury)

Actually, I believe modern javascript is compiled (by v8 engine) at runtime.

forEach method takes in a callback function and applies it to every member of the array. Under the hood we should see something like this: function forEach (fn) { for ( var i = 0 ; i < array .length; ++i) { fn( array [i], i, array ); } } Of course, the real forEach would much different since it's an Array method, but the implementation should be similar. Back to your question, for a function that takes in a callback function, you should always pass a reference of the callback (in this case "adder") to the function (forEach) instead of invoking it, let the function handles the time to invoke it. On a different note, if you're trying to get the summation of an array the method you should look at is reduce.
