I think working in retail is a good opportunity to gain customer service skills that can be carried over to any other sector, not just IT! I plan to use that as one of my key selling points when the time comes to transition out of retail and into IT.

I figured as much! From what I can gather, that tends to be the common approach, but my guess is that it also depends on the preference of the developer. What's your preference?
