I have to say Python is the strangest language. They don't even call functions functions. There is no semi-colons, and no switch statements. It is a mess. Ages ago I used to love programming in z80 machine code. Loved loading that Accumulator, and you never forget the screen address of the zx spectrum is 16384. However much prefer C++, or even C# if I have to LOL, but please no more Python.
I started when I was 16,but it doesn't matter because coding keeps changing. I was coding in zx basic in 1981. Then came C, then C++, and C# and php. So it doesn't matter if you start coding at 16, because by the time you are 20 you have to learn new coding skills anyway. Changing to oop was the biggest hurdle at first, but it is second nature now.
I have always use vanilla css, but just recently started using scss. I hate bootstrap witha a passion, but it is being forced on me unfortunately. It is a bloated piece of js and css, which I could easily do without.
I also think that people try to do too much in jQuery and javascript instead of using more php. I think of jQuery as a device to talk to php and do as much code as possible in php. Php is the backbone and jquery is the messenger boy. Not the other way around.
I have used visual studio and it is ok, but I always feel it is a bloated beast. I actually prefer codeblocks for c++. However some things are easier to do in visual studio so I switch between them depending on what project I am throwing together.
my first computer was a sinclair zx81. It made you a true programmer to see what you could get out of 1k of memory. Later I moved onto the Sinclair spectrum 48k. Wow you should have seen what I could do with a whole 48k of memory and a little z80 machine code.----------Later I got an Amiga 500, then an Amiga 1200. Then I stripped down the Amiga and put it in a tower case with a graphics card. Later I had to succumb to the pc craze even though at the time the Amiga was better. A whole OS in 2mb of ram.
