The finger command can also give information for logged-out users if you provide the username as an argument (includes the contents of the "~/.plan" file, "~/.project" file, or both [depending on which exists] in the long format output). The pinky command (part of coreutils) is a lightweight local-only alternative to the finger command ( pinky or pinky -l <username> for the long format [more in the man page]).
