I can't believe I am just coming across this. This is a well-written, insightful piece. I must admit I have been in similar difficult position in the past where recruiters asked me what my current salary is. It throws you off balance if you had never given it such a deep thought before. Not only that, it messes with your negotiation power going forward. Thanks for this great insight. I am better equipped for answering the question going forward.
