Ironically I was there at he same time, trash 80 bought in 1979 (still have it as a reminder) and read the same magazines, the joys of soldering upgrades to the solder tracks designed for the expansion interface as it was the cheapest way of upgrading, piggybacking a 1k static ram chip to give the 8th bit for display and having lower case letters. Funny how people can read the same article in the same magazine and see different words. Took me three months to disassemble the o/s Rom so I could integrate Z80 machine code extensions to extend it's capability. Now i prefer tools that just do the job, minimum of fuss, maximum productivity.

Experienced developers, 42 years for me, what about you? After the first 30 or so I finally realised that being a purist about code and doing things the hard way really wasn't necessary or productive. Of course i could go back to DOS and the days of GoTos ( if you were around in thise days) but evolution prevents me from living in the dark ages.

Got to agree, wysiwyg type editors are limiting, generally produce poor code and I steer clear. Wordpress i may consider for a simple site on a budget, Wix is just awful. But Wappler is not a simple drag and drop wysiwyg product, it is a fully data driven, extensive programming environment but instead of manually calling framework elements ( vue.js, boostrap etc) the process is done in a visual manner. I remember in the 80s when the first spreadsheet appeared on the market (visicalc). The programming world shouted hoax! It cant possibly be done. Now the world would be lost without Excel. Perhaps you should take a look, you may rethink your position (As I did)

I am guessing you have not used this tool and base your comments on supposition. I do think that the product can sometimes be mis-represented by the idea of a visual programming tool as this will cunjure up ideas of services like Wix. Wappler is more a visually managed web app language where business flows can be and are catered for. You still need a an understanding of coding, particularly JavaScript to get the most of it but that is part of it's beauty, new developers can hone their skills on the basic visual flows where more experienced developers can add custom code to the modules to extend them. Nothing will ever remove the need to code 100% but Wappler can do a huge amount of the heavy lifting and make a developer far more productive.

Got to disagree totally with your comments. I started software development in the late 70s and have been developing pretty much exclusively for web for the last 15. I am primarily a back end developer although I do full stack. Until 6 months ago I hand coded everything but decided to try Wappler thinking could be useful for the more mundane parts of sites. 6 months later now find myself doing 99% of my work in Wappler. George Petrov and his team at DMX zone have been producing high quality extensions for Dreamweaver for many years, Wappler effectively pulls all these together into a central application removing the need for Dreamweaver. Does it remove the need to hand code, not completely but almost. I can now produce complex data driven sites in a fraction of the time it took me to hand code. The interface is intuitive and facilities comprehensive. Wappler is a fast developing product, updated weekly with new features supported by a strong support community who are friendly, understanding and non judgemental. My suggestion to you is stop taking cheap shots and actually give it a try.
