Hi, I’m Senthilganesh and I’m a programmer located in Bangalore. I’m interested in programming paradigms in general and a big fan of Haskell and Smalltalk. I always contemplate on writing clean code in object oriented and functional paradigms. I’m also interested in distributed computing and solving scalability and performance challenges in enterprise apps.

Thanks Marco Alka RUST is in my radar and I will start learning the language. I always got fascinated by ancient languages like Haskell and smalltalk which has very less syntax and never allowed developer to write something other than function or object res..,. It’s languages like cpp and java which allows developers to code using both object oriented concepts and procedural styles making the code very difficult to understand and maintain. Haskell is very concise and easy to reason only because it forced developers to use monad for side effecting code. This made all the pure functions easy to reason. Smalltalk code is concise because everything in the language is object, even the primitives. The only way one can get anything done in this language is via message passing.

Reuse via inheritance is bad since it creates coupling between base and derived classes. Re-use can be done via object composition. If we wanted to reuse functions, then we are not thinking object oriented. More granular the object is, more easier it is to re-use and compose. More types we define, more vocabulary we have in expressing the implementation. Object oriented programming if done correctly will be more concise and easy to read than functional programming. Functions don't encapsulate state. They work on values and get things done by function composition and use of higher order functions. Whereas objects hides the state in its implementation and exposes only behavior. So the reader only need to concentrate on how the objects interact with each other to get things done rather than dealing with the state of each and every object.
