When you and the person hiring you are on the same exact understanding on what is required, in what time frame and how do you communicate and the entirety for the project scope all parties included should feel better about the job.

Strongly agree on soft skills being one of the key elements and often totally not looked into when trying to advance in one's career. I have written on the subject too and for real it is my way if getting into the tech jobs I have done. Always talked myself in throigh the crack on the door hinge side, leveraging internal networking and soft skills only. Well maybe I had some technical hard skills to show for but I usually have learned them when opportunities have presented themselves.
