That 30% token inflation paired with forced thinking loops is a financial blank check. If Fable 5 forces a deep reasoning run and then drops you into an Opus 4.8 fallback anyway, cost predictability goes out the window. This is why browser-based development feels like financial roulette right now. Shifting to a local desktop workspace where you can force token-cost gates on disk before hitting the endpoint isn't a luxury anymore; it's a necessary financial guardrail.

Excellent summary of the Fable 5 architectural shift. With a 1M context window and that Mythos-class adaptive reasoning, the potential for autonomous workflows is massive, but the real bottleneck is going to be client-side tooling latency and API predictability.Running these heavy agent runs through standard web frames is getting less practical by the day. Shifting the workspace to a native desktop environment where you can anchor schemas directly on disk and map clear token-cost gates seems essential to avoid massive credit drain. Curious to see how developers start structuring their local workspace orchestration layers to keep up with these specs.
