Admit that you don't know the answer they are looking for then do one or both of these things: Ask clarifying questions to get to the root of the problem , not the solution they're asking for. Then provide them with a different solution you know enough to create which solves the same problem. Talk about a similar scenario you came across in the workplace where you did not know something you needed and what you did to eventually solve the problem.
