Online automotive store: injectors, turbochargers
I am a web developer specializing in PHP and JavaScript, and I own an online injector and turbocharger shop called as Diesel Partner.
My journey into programming began in the late 1980s with my first computer, a Commodore 64. At that time, I delved into writing programs and games in BASIC, guided by just a single book on the language. I have particularly fond memories of that era.
In the 1990s, I expanded my knowledge to include Pascal and C. After the turn of the millennium, I started taking programming and web development more seriously. I developed a strong affinity for PHP, which has been my primary focus ever since. Alongside PHP, I also became proficient in JavaScript (at a time before frameworks emerged) and MySQL. I vividly recall the challenge of ensuring websites appeared consistently across various browsers and the need to tailor them for each one. It was a demanding period!
One of my earliest ventures was a music collection browser, a project I began developing in 2000. The application was crafted using PHP and entirely pure JavaScript, employing HTML Application (HTA), which remains compatible with Windows 10. Unlike typical approaches, no HTML files were used for the layout (except for index.php to load .js files); instead, everything was dynamically generated with JavaScript. Remarkably, the code, written between 2003 and 2005 in pure JS, continues to function flawlessly without requiring any updates.
The concept emerged with the introduction of XMLHttpRequest in browsers, initially available as an ActiveX object in Internet Explorer. I drew inspiration from the Windows XP explorer.exe GUI, aiming to replicate similar file and folder selection functionality in JavaScript—enabling users to navigate directories and open files with mouse and keyboard interactions.
