Hey everyone! I'm a front end developer from Brisbane, Australia. I initially got into web development while I was travelling and living in China in 2014. I met some expat "digital nomads" and remember reading Pieter Levels' blog and his amazing journey building a bunch of startups! From there I was hooked and instantly wanted in. I remember getting this monolithic half Chinese half English book on HTML and CSS, and I just studied it like crazy. For the first time in a long time I felt completely inspired and amazed at how cool it was being able to create stuff on the web! I am really into rock climbing and love to travel around the world, and so the dream that has kept me going, still to this day, was to be able to live a life of slow travel, where I could climb by day and code by night. I wanted to create a sustainable source of income so I never had to come home broke and deflated after an amazing trip. In early 2015 I started a blog called Adventure In My Veins which focused on digital dirtbags - those who make a living out of their creative skills and lead a lifestyle of travel and adventure. I interviewed some really interesting people and that helped shape my journey into the world of tech, travel and the creative industries. I even started a site focused on building an online climbing community. It was a pretty fun experience, which of course flopped, but nonetheless I learnt a lot and met some cool people along the way! Fast forward a couple of a years, and now I can truly say that I have somewhat reached my goal. I have worked both full-time and freelance, and now have a good understanding of what it takes. It's a tough job with lots of up's and down's, but overall it's an incredible field and I'm always psyched to learn more about web, tech and how it's seriously changing our world. At the moment I am really into Vue.js and have been dabbling with Firebase, Strapi, Mongo DB for the backends on my personal projects. I have played around with NativeScript a little bit, and would love to continually expand my skillset to include both mobile, desktop, web and perhaps even VR and AR :) Feel free to reach out anytime, I'm always keen to meet more like minded people!
