I will soon be documenting my journey as a 42 yr old recovered addict and convicted felon, restarting life and learning how to be a normal person in society. Contrary to what they want everyone to believe, it is not possible to just go out and get a job these days. Imagine hitting rock bottom and becoming homeless in the midwest, after going thru enough crap that they could make a movie trilogy about it and somehow surviving it all to jump on a bus across the country with a bag of things and blindly heading to the west coast with the hopes of a restart on life, I got myself in to a methadone treatment program where ive finally been able to put some years in, living the right way, but after two years of exhausting myself with the whole job search thing, have yet to be hired. Lack of effort is not the problem, believe me i have put in the effort with thousands of applications i dont know how many resumes, cover letters, or interviews ive done. The worst part of it is the fact ive been hired multiple times got a start date and the night before i start i receive an email stating that due to adverse background check I am no longer being extended the job offer. Everyone says that its illegal out here for companies to do that but im here to tell you they do it anyways. My other favorite is "nobody wants to work, all these companies cant get people to work", well not this guy, this guy would take a job at mcdonalds at this point. My belief is the same as the only positive male influence I have ever had in my life my grandfather, that it doesnt matter what you do as long as you try to be the best one to do it, so i dont care what job i get i just need a purpose. well to no avail, still up shits creek without a paddle so i decided to return to what i was supposed to do after high school, before the life of drugs and illegal escapades, and try to pickup where i left off pursuing a job in cyber security. I know right. Better than just that Im going to attempt to do it on my budget of 0 dollars total life wealth and attempt to do it that way thru to the end, so im starting out at the beginning of a free coding bootcamp and i mean starting out with out any college education behind me and never writing a single line of code. (pausing for laughter to die down). its a good thing im one of the most hard headed people on the planet and i love to be told i cant or better yet not allowed to do something and as my record will tell ya i always have to prove them wrong.lol
