I'm pretty sure there is a "legacy mode" to have the Esc and F keys set up on the touch bar and use the Fn key to access the short cuts pretty much as you can do on the old macbooks.

The fun thing with being a *nix user is that you never stop learning. Even after 20 years. Regarding the stock terminal in OSX these days, it's almost as good as iTerm.

This is just a part of the answer but tl;dr: It's easier to reason about data when data is mutated in 1 place as opposed to n places.

Growing up with home computers in the 80s pointers are second nature to me. But OOP! Man... Figuring out what parts to break down into objects and how to relate them still makes my head spin. Thankfully compositional programming and FP have emerged on a wide scale lately. Much more intuitive to me.

Only the first part is free though. But it's a nice one! Probably well worth it.
