When I got started, I had a "share everything I learn" mindset. I ran a blog called pv3d.org +10 years ago that was chock-full of 3d code demos. I started turning those into video content over time and then that eventually turned into egghead. To get started, share something, anything, the smallest possible thing that you can think of. Be consistent with it and "get your reps in". It gets much easier the more that you do it and you'll gain the confidence to share bigger and bigger things.
Benjamin Miller The thing is, we're not "competing" with anyone. We're 100% bootstrapped and have always been playing a long game. We're just doing the best we can with the resources we have and the people we're connected to. Our success is measured in "Can I wake up each morning and do what I want?" I believe we could replicate that success with the processes and values of egghead today.
"egghead" is defined as "a person who is highly academic or studious; an intellectual." It's a bit pretentious as a brand, but I hoped it could be a term people would aspire to. I also like the ".io" aspect. Input/output from one egghead to another since we all learn from each other.
Hi Benjamin, great questions: We work hands-on with our instructors for the first few lessons. We review and discuss how they can be improved. Once they reach a certain point, then instructors can make lessons without review. We're not a traditional online learning shop. We have a lot of content for intermediate/expert developers who want to keep their skills sharp and up-to-date which is much different than a "school". We were currently working on a lot of educational/exercise/materials/etc to provide a better expertise path for students and it's something we hope will help the community achieve their goals.
