Nice guide, thank you for all that effort with the screenshots! I really recommend using Sublime Merge. It has a forever free version that visualizes common Git concepts like squash and rebase as you carry them out, so you can understand it on a fundamental level. When you reach that point, things that happen in terminal make much, much more sense.
Fortunately, it's more complex than that. Yes, meeting the employer's needs is crucial if you ever want to be useful and make any money, but in a long run (and any career is a long run), you also have to make sure your mental health practices are sustainable, otherwise you just end up with mental health issues that are likely irreversible and barely treatable. Knowing that you're nice, staying true to yourself and keeping the intentions good, even if it means declining that FAANG offer, can benefit you tenfold in a long run. Other than keeping your whole money-making process sustainable, that way you're more likely to seek additional sources of profit that you could never think of before. Even from the calculated perspective of treating yourself as constantly adapting money-making machine, you're still need to maintain that machine, e.g. your mind, and keep it in a good shape, right?
