The most famous & one of the few classical books in the Developer Relations space is "The Business Value of Developer Relations: How and Why Technical Communities Are Key To Your Success Book" by Mary Thengvall. It goes quite a bit into the theory behind the importance of Developer Relations & also explains the origin of the term Developer Avocados!
