I don't like the term code smell at all. There may be truth in it sometimes but I find that it's something that programmers with an elevated opinion of their own abilities say to their more introvert colleagues across a meeting room. It just contributes to a lousy work environment.

I used to use Visual Studio / C++ almost exclusively back in the 90s and knew dozens of keystrokes. Now I have to jump between many IDEs constantly and I'm forced to use the mouse. Even with VS I apply the old VS6 keystrokes and find many of them are broken.
