Hi Steinar, absolutely valid points. Scalability isn't a problem that can be looked at in isolation. Several challenges that may not even be directly related to your application boundary can lead to scalability issues (as you mentioned, external services and third party APIs). My point with this post was to bring this perspective to the table that scalability is not a fixed state. I have another blog post in progress where I'm trying to talk about the real world problems with scalability. Hope to get it out soon!
