Starting out as a total newb to coding, I found starting with HTML to be a nice intro and a confidence builder. It at least gives you and idea of structure before one tries to wrap their head around the logic of JavaScript. That being said, JavaScript is one of the most used languages out there, so moving quickly to start learning it is in ones best interest. If you have some programming background, then yes, start with JavaScript. If you are a total newb like I was, I would recommend starting with HTML then JavaScript.
