Das Keyboard 4 Professional for Mac Mechanical Keyboard - Soft Tactile - Brown. I just love the feel of typing on it. I'm super curious about this one, though, has anyone tried it? https://www.crowdsupply.com/ugl/ultimate-hacking-keyboard
Cool! Sometimes I wish I could make more things with my hands. I feel like I've been craving something like that after being on the computer all day. I don't have much of a garage or work space for that, but I did buy a small little workbench recently. I want to learn to make mini tikis so I've been investigating tools. :-) There must be something super satisfying about just making some things with your hands.
I play ice hockey 2x week. I play guitar (have been lead vocalist/singer in a couple of local rock tribute bands). When I can get out, I also love the outdoors and nature. Hiking, mountain biking and bird photography. Amateur painting/drawing. Oh, yeah...and I like playing NHLXX on Xbox (pretty much the only game I play...though occasionally I'll play different versions of Burnout). In the past year or so I've been learning a new stack and trying to launch some side projects (setlistic.com is the first), so unfortunately my other loves have not been getting as much airtime. Just wish there were like 4 of me. :-)
I think one of the most important things to know about marketing anything, is that it's not about activities, it's about results...and knowing what activities bring the results, and at what cost. A few critical marketing metrics would be important to learn about, like cost per customer (how much can you afford to pay for a customer....it varies based on your price/profit and it's different for each company), or LTV, or MRR, etc. For that reason, it's not simple to say what someone should do to market their app to their customers. Something that works for one app, may not work for another. Sometimes free things work, sometimes they don't. Sometimes free things that don't work can cost (time, resources, opportunity cost). That's why tracking and testing in marketing is so important...so you can continuously learn and evolve based on results. If you don't track/test, then you may be engaging in fruitless activities, or in the case of social, sometimes chasing "vanity metrics" like followers, likes etc....which may not translate to revenue. If you're interested in learning more about marketing, the Growthhackers community is a decent place to start: https://growthhackers.com/posts.
Hm. Interesting choice. Yeah I'd be curious about the reasons for that choice, too. We have certainly had a major difficult time finding/affording CF devs. It's funny....years ago when I decided to learn that language, I knew it was very niche and probably always would be. But there seemed to be a number of corp/gov/edu companies adopting it so I figured that I'd be able to stay working with it for years to come, exactly for that reason. So, from that standpoint it has afforded me a lot of job security, and I went into it eyes wide open and that niche bet paid off. But I've made a concerted effort to continue to learn other skills, too, though. Job security or not, I haven't wanted to die on the CF vine.
