I disagree. Again, I'll give as an example Github which is written in Ruby. Also, with new Hanami releases, there will be an alternative to Rails, to build really scalable applications. There are plenty of ways you could make your Ruby code more functional if this is what you prefer to have. Ruby is not an issue. I think the issue is a Rails monopoly without a real alternative.
