The United States of America (USA) is a country in North America. It consists of 50 states, a federal district, five territories, and nine associated islands. The contiguous United States lies between Canada to the north and Mexico to the south, with the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Alaska is in the far northwest of North America, bordered by Canada to the east and the Bering Sea and Chukchi Sea to the west.
