Did I mention that I'm an Egypt addict? I'm Mike, and this has gradually turned into a full-time lifestyle as a tour guide. I left London six years ago for the energy of Cairo, leaving behind a desk job. Not for even a second have I turned the back. The ancient mysteries of this land caught me by the throat as though they have got me into their powerful grasp forever.
At the moment, you can find me crisscrossing from one destination, Hurghada, to another, Sharm el-Sheikh, as I show visitors the less seen side of Egypt, a gift they usually miss out on native guidebooks. Yes, I can show pyramids (and believe me, the scene just gets overwhelmingly beautiful when you are standing right there), but mostly I enjoy sharing those little known gems with this country that makes it special. Like, that little coffee shop in Cairo where Umm Kulthum used to perform; or that secret site in Hurghada where you can spend a morning watching dolphins play at sunrise.
Customized itineraries emphasize the important tourist destinations and then add local flavor experiences. One day I am walking people through the busy streets of the Khan el-Khalili bazaar, while the next time, I could be exploring coral gardens in the Red Sea with marine-life enthusiasts. Every traveler has new dreams about Egypt, so each tour is different.
The best part? The wonder and amazement on people's faces-whether in an ancient temple or even when they eat free and authentic koshari-wonder and perfect amazement depict all what this job is about. It's not my job; it's magic-how to expose the magic of a country that has become my home. From many sources of historical attractions down to modern beach resorts, I get to see fresh hordes of wonders in Egypt daily.
