Back in July 2026, a similar thing happened to me. Check out my notes from the experience: Quick warning in case any of you get approached by Ritual about a fractional CTO / product / architecture role. I took an introductory call after being connected through someone called David Santiago on LinkedIn. The pitch was around a decentralized AI / web3 infrastructure company, with a product called MetaPlay. During the conversation, the “HR recruiter”, after the first sequence of not having a good video happening and such, repeatedly pushed me to clone and run their GitHub repo on my personal machine as part of the call. I declined. That raised a few concerns for me: this was framed as a role discussion, not a technical assessment they wanted me to install and run unknown code locally, during the interview there was no live demo environment provided the repo appeared to be a very early/simple card game MVP, while the broader company pitch was much bigger when I said I would not clone the repo to my machine, Andrew ended the call abruptly For context, the current public GitHub org shows a single public repo, MetaPlay, updated May 21, 2026. (github.com) I wasn’t able to verify much more from the site I was given because it timed out when I checked it. () I’m not claiming this is definitively a scam, but when the people in the team obscure their faces and the education is with Landmark, and the last commit was back in May and it was fading fast, it felt off enough that I would strongly recommend basic caution.
