Hey dev peeps, I'm Wes and I'm a React dev who is learning to be a generalist. I am also a 2ndCareerDev , having left Academia for the joys of developing code. Moreover, I'm also a BootCampGrad from Rutgers University Bootcamp. Both these facts make me probably overly enthusiastic about newer technologies and yet also passionate about learning new things. The more involved I become in my current company, I'm finding that learning new things for me is often learning old things from others. That's fine. I find myself become more rounded by working with legacy code and by developing on stacks where I have received little formal training. Developers my age are often Senior or Lead devs, so I'm learning a bit of humility as well. I started out developing with Sublime in a Windows environment. I still love Sublime and use it occasionally, but I have moved almost exclusively to VSCode, and while I work in a MacOS environment day-ty-day, I moved to a Linux Ubuntu distribution in everything else (and love it!!) I am also a father of two teenagers and one preteen, and the husband of a wonder wife who is also a Special Education Teacher's Assistant. I am heavily involved in my local church, where I love to greet new people as well as teach theology (I happen to have a PhD in Applied Theology).
