hugoenn The choice depends on how would you like to apply what you learn and on what sort of applications. I have used both python and php. Both languages have their own strengths. If you wish to build robust user centric web applications, PHP is one of strong contenders. If you wish to work on huge data driven applications, python is your friend. Its best choice to be made for huge data set processing, analysis and such sorts. A tip is to learn the fundamentals of language first and then move towards learning frameworks. Frameworks should be your assistants to get jobs done in an effective way. Hope this answer helps you with what you are looking for. Wish you the best!
Have experience using Laravel and so far, no complaints there. The framework has great documentation and has a also has a lots of tutorials and resources to achieve whatever you can think of in web apps.
