microservices :-)
It's again a thing. Almost a decade ago we called them Service-oriented-Architecture but it doesn't sound cool (enough today) anymore (I think because SOA is bound to Java and nobody likes Java, does someone?).
Currently, it's no problem anymore to run Elixir/Erlang backend stuff like Pheonix and connect a universal Javascript React/Node.js app with it. UI as a service consuming backend as a service. Then doing remote centralized logging (InfluxDB) and use remote debugging via Vorlon.js. Logging as a service and debugging as a service.
This X as a service is a manager friendly term'ish thing. So we developers and geeks and freaks and hackers and wannabes, call it microservices - enabled by containers mostly :-)
We are not going to pick tools based on specific platforms or runtimes anymore. We are going to pick tools which enable the best DX, allowing us to develop solutions with the best UX :-)
