I maintain @survivejs myself. To keep it manageable, I schedule it through Buffer. TweetDeck is invaluable for staying in touch with people as Twitter's normal client just doesn't cut it.
The content comes from many sources and I try to keep my eyes open for trends. This is something I have to do anyway so why not to share. My strategy is simple in that I try to keep the quality of the shared content high while not sharing too often.
There is likely room for more automation like auto-following and all that, but I haven't bothered to dig into those tactics. There are enough balls to juggle after all.
