Can I know what are your thoughts on Facebook's patents on VDOM (the most lucrative thing about Vue) and whether it'll affect the open-source community if Facebook decide to do something about it?
There is really no definitive answer to the patent question because nothing is certain until someone goes to court. But here are a few things to consider:
So far I haven't seen any evidence on FB actually holding a patent on the concept of VDOM. React was published in 2013 and if no related patents were filed before 2014 (1 year after public closure), everything becomes public domain.
If Facebook actually owns a patent on VDOM and uses it to sue users of Vue/Preact/Cycle (or, as I said in another answer, they most likely have a patent portfolio that allows them to sue you whenever they want), this will be what I call "OSS reputation suicide" - they are essentially violating the good will they've been promising, and will lose everything they've gained from OSS and drive off community members and even employers with good conscious. They will lose far more than what they gain and I believe they are smarter than that.
