I'd say yes. When choosing a library, I'll look at:
- Number of stars. Unless it's for something obscure, it should have a few dozen stars. 100 or 2000 doesn't matter too much to me, but not 2.
- Last code update time. If it's years ago, I'll leave. Otherwise I'll look at more detailed activity info (pulse, open issues/requests).
- Does the readme explain how to use the library, or link to documentation that does?
Other things, like automated tests and having multiple frequent contributors, are a nice bonus. I don't really check if the code is well-written at first inspection, I probably should though.
In conclusion: if you use a library and like it, leave a star.
