Yes I do feel uncomfortable when spotting typos because:
- we use READMEs and code comments to generate some for of documentation / website so it's not merely our fellow developers who have to deal with the typos but it's actually part of the (visible) product
- broken window theory; once there are a few typos and nobody cares, more will follow
