For the love of all that is holy, stop with the languages. Please stop with the meaningless compilation of words that compile to assembly!

You're creating languages that claim to make one thing easier but complicate 5 other things.

Languages that claim to make writing assembly easier that only compile to pure machine code are creating monsters.

We're creating so-called "developers" that can't even push to the correct registry with assembly. We have to push C and pure assembly to the forefront again.

While I agree that if you use a language that compiles to javascript you should have enough javascript skills to debug the "compiled" code, this new wave of javascript elitism/purism is not good. Rants like the one in the original post, and to a less extent replies like the one from @tomhodgins, look borderline millitant, and only serve to alienate newcomers. Having a sensible relation to frameworks and languages that compile to javascript is a good thing. Purism and elitism is not.

It's not elitism, it's passion. I've been working around web for ~15 years and for most of those, I was blocked from learning JS by all the libraries like jQuery, Prototype, etc people were using. You needed to understand and know JavaScript to be able to use them, but the way people were using them was as a crutch for not learning JavaScript.

I got frustrated, realizing that my struggles with jQuery might be easier if I knew Vanilla JS, so I made an effort to try to learn vanilla JS and a whole new world opened up to me. Not just learning JS, but I could do all sorts of things I just couldn't do in life before. It's been amazing to learn JavaScript.

All I had to do to start learning JavaScript was put jQuery down and just try to write JS.

It's not a militant threat of "do it this way or else", just encouragement to stop the madness and focus on the foundations. I'm not trying to turn anybody away from learning, just trying to help them avoid wasting a decade 'using' libraries and frameworks before finally sitting down and learning things :D
