Something I would first ask yourself is: What are you open sourcing the project for?
Then when it comes to findings contribs, you want to find others who share the same amount of love and passion for the project you are working on. Once you do, creating those human connections first one by one is a really important path to really galvanizing a relationship between external contributors and a project.
