Improving typing speed and improving typing speed while coding are slightly different ball games. You use more of '(' , ')' , '{' ; || &, * and less word sequences. Even in the word sequences, you will have dots making a lot of appearances.
So take a particular program that has all symbols, weird word sequences etc and keep typing it out again and again. Time yourself each time you will start seeing improvement in your typing speed in less than a week
