Working days
- 6:00 am: (or a bit later, depends on a lot of factors) I wake up, occasionally drinking some milk-based thing, and start reading through my mail, including notifications from select services (Stack Exchange sites, Hashnode, Quora). This is my main “me-time”, so I read only stuff that interests me a lot
- 6:50am: I wake my daughter up and make her ready for kindergarten. During holidays I let her sleep, extending my me-time. We arrive to kindergarten around 8:00am
- If I go to the office, I catch the 8:11am train; otherwise I go back home
- Around 8:15am I start working, either on the train, or at home
- Somewhere between noon and 2:00pm I go to grab some food
- I continue working until 3:00 pm if I have to grab my daughter from kindergarten. If so, I continue work on the train until 4:00pm. If my wife does it, I usually keep working until 5:00 pm
- Now comes family time. Up until 9:00pm I’m with them, which includes doing chores together, eating dinner, and generally having fun.
- In the rare cases when I don’t fall asleep with them around 10:00 pm, I once again extend my me-time, reading articles and sometimes playing games.
Weekends
- Wake up at a random time, which is usually still around 6:30am
- Prepare breakfast
- Wait for family to wake up
- See family time in the weekdays section
All this in case nothing serious is happening at work. If we have tight deadlines, this may break, but my policy is family-first, and I do work outside the 8:00am–5:00pm if it is really necessary.
