I saw the polymer related talks of google i/o 2018 and I got really interested to use the web platform, primarily because I had jumped straight onto React when I started my career, and never really tried using the web platform directly. TBH, I realised that I hadn't even faced the paint points of writing vanilla (or very close to vanilla) Javascript on the web. So I'm very drawn to make something with polymer just to be able to see what it entails.

I think Polymer is an interesting framework with terrible docs. The company I'm interning at used Polymer 1.0 to build a complex web app.
If you want a framework to replace jQuery, I'd mess with vue-js. It's a progressive JavaScript framework that is easier to learn and as light as jQuery.
